The NAHB National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) has honored S. Robert August, MIRM, CMP, CSP, Master CSP, with the Legend of Residential Marketing award.
The award was presented at The Nationals Awards Gala during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla., in January.
“Since 1992, the National Sales and Marketing Council has saluted home builders and marketing professionals who have stood apart as legends in the field of new home marketing,” said 2016 NSMC Chair Robin Newhouse. “This year’s honoree has stood the test of time and has the hardware on his shelf to prove it.”
August, founder and president of North Star Synergies in Centennial, Colo., has been honored with many awards, including NSMC’s William “Bill” Molster Award, NAHB Master Certified Sales Professional of the Year, NAHB Sales and Marketing Educator of the Year, National Marketing Director of the Year, and NSMC’s Trina Ripley Excellence in Education Award.
“Over the past four and a half decades, Robert has enjoyed one of the most consistently productive and inspiring careers in American real estate, development and home building,” said Dan Levitan, MIRM, a past Legend honoree who presented August with the award.
“His tireless work ethic and enthusiasm make it impossible to list all of his contributions, but it is generally accepted that he is know throughout our industry as ‘Mr. NAHB,’ ‘Mr. NSMC’ and ‘Mr. IRM,'” he said.
August was one of the first to develop programs that are now standard in new home marketing, including a comprehensive sales and marketing program for a master planned community.
“Robert is responsible for creating and implementing the membership, political action and advertising revenue sponsorship programs and systems which provided IRM, NSMC and NAHB the funds they needed to create and operate the programs which they provided to the industry and the community – a sum in excess of $60 million,” Levitan said.
A former NSMC chair, August is also a nationally recognized leader in membership recruitment and retention, and has been instrumental in founding new Sales and Marketing Councils in Colorado, as well as across the country.
